Eyelashes: Hope for Longer-Looking, Luscious Lashes
06/05/07 |
When I first heard about the new lash conditioners, I was a bit skeptical. Since I like to try everything personally, I purchased one of them to see if they really worked. My eyelash curler became my gauge to measure the results. At first, my lashes only came up to the middle of the metal bar, but after 5 weeks they were at the top and began to brush the inside of my sunglass lenses. No, they didn't stop there-they are now about 1/4 beyond the bar! My new motto is: “To infinity and beyond……!” Unfortunately, our eyelashes thin as we age. Since the eyes are the windows to the soul and a focal point on our face, missing or thin eyelashes can detract from the face. Yes, alopecia is a medical disorder in which the lashes may fall out. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments may also result in the loss of lashes and brows. Sometimes physical trauma, such as a nervous tic where one pulls on the eyelashes, an accident with an eyelash curler or eyelash extensions can result in fewer or no lashes. There are several products currently available to help improve eyelashes. Although they cannot officially be called “growth” products, it is hard to dispute the results. The best product is Revitalash MD It was developed by an opthamologist for his wife who was undergoing cancer treatment and had thinning lashes. With continued use, the lashes may appear thicker, longer and in some cases, darker lashes. In most cases, results are apparent at about 5 - 6 weeks. Unfortunately, cosmetic companies are less than forthcoming in their labeling, so the secret ingredient is often veiled into a fancy name like Amazing Lash Factor which may contain the secret ingredient along with a few other things, so their trade secret isn't stolen. This makes it hard to know exactly what it is that is producing the results. We can only speculate The ingredient in these formulations may be a minute amount ofsynthetic prostaglandin analog, found in some glaucoma medications. When used along the lash line, it may shorten the resting (telogen) phase of the hair-growth cycle and prolong the growth (anagen ) phase, possibly resulting in longer-looking, fuller lashes that last longer. Other ingredients which may be utilized in some new hair conditioning products are vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), or epidermal growth factor (EGF) or cyclosporine. It is packaged in a tube resembling liquid eyeliner or mascara. The wand has a tiny eyeliner brush on the end. The product is painted on the upper eyelid skin, at the lash line, above the lashes at bedtime. Our clients have reported exceptional results and often send their friends in to buy it also. As long as the product is used, the lashes remain. When stopped for a period of time, the lashes return to their former state. This product gives you the look you want, the rest is up to you. Blinc Eyelash Primer contains conditioners to soften lashes. This can be used on the lashes at night or during the day to keep them healthy. It can also be used as a primer before the application of mascara. An eyelash curler is fun too. It gives a beautiful curl to the lashes and makes applying mascara much more fun for that Come hither look! No, but you can apply it to the sparse sections of your eyebrow.
